ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
Undergraduate Programmes :
ISM offers 4-year (post 10+2) integrated programmes leading to award of B.Tech degrees in Mining Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mining Machinery, and Mineral Engineering - admission to all these programmes is through IIT-JEE conducted all over India by IITs in the month of May for which a notification is issued and published in all leading newspapers of the country.
ISM now offers B.Tech degree programmes in the disciplines of Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics Engineering.
Postgraduate Programmes : ISM offers M.Tech Programmes in Computer Applications, Drilling Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science & Engineering, Fuel Engineering, Geophysical Instrumentation Techniques, Industrial Engineering & Management, Longwall Mine Mechanisation, Maintenance Engineering & Tribology, Mine Planning and Design, Mineral Engineering, Mineral Exploration, Mining Machinery, Mining Geophysics, Opencast Mining, Petroleum Engineering, Petroleum Exploration, Rock Excavation Engineering.
ISM also offers 3-year M.Sc.(Tech) programmes for science graduates in (i) Applied Geology and (ii) Applied Geophysics and M.Phil programmes in Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics and Applied Chemistry.
In order to respond to the growing demand for management education, ISM offers a two-year (four semester) Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme for preparing professional managers who are going to be the future leaders of Indian economy. The MBA programme, approved by AICTE, has been designed to impart professional knowledge in functional areas of business, core areas of organisation and management, environment, etc. The students of this programme can specialise themselves in a functional area of business and at the same time can build up sufficient knowledge base for another area of specialisation.
Doctoral Programmes : As Deemed University, ISM offers Ph.D.programmes for different disciplines. The School also awards D.Sc.degrees. While ISM puts great emphasis on industry oriented research work, sponsored research also constitutes a significant component of activity.
