EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES

Continuing education for in-service executives is an important activity of the School. The very complex nature of the mineral industry demands for a high skilled, highly qualified, diverse manpower-base. This calls for a continuous updating of knowledge by each and every professional so that one remains up-to-date. A huge manpower base was to be created for the Petroleum Industry. The coal sector also needs reorganisation in view of the rapid development of newer technology. ISM took up the responsibility of updating the manpower of mineral, petroleum and coal sectors by offering special training programmes so that they could gear up to meet the challenges. The duration of the programmes ranges from 1 to 12 weeks and the topics covered include Combustion Engineering, Computer Applications, Drilling Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation, Environmental Management, Equipment Condition Monitoring, Mine Operation and Productivity Management, Mine Project Management, Mining Machinery, Mine Surveying, Mine Planning, Mineral and Groundwater Exploration, Mining (Surface and Underground), Operations Research and System Modelling and Petroleum Engg.

While most of the courses are organised in-campus, quite a few are conducted off-campus as well. During the last few years, specially designed long during orientation-cum-induction programmes for executives of ONGC, Essar Oil Ltd and for environmental engineers of CIL have been organised in the fully residential Executive Development Centre Complex.
